“Always Wanting More”… Not always, Thanks to all my Friends!

June 21, 2009

A dear friend of mine told me … You always want more just be satisfied with what you have.. well I do set my goals high and I do want to sell more paintings and course there are other things I want to do.   But, she is right… I need to look around and be happy with what I have.  And I am very happy! Wow, I had so many wonderful friends that came out to see my work and enjoy the good food. What more could I ask for. I am blessed and I appreciate where I am.

First of all I’m alive, and second I have friends who are always there for me. Friends that have supported me through my darkest days. I am blessed. So yes my  best friend you are right… and I am happy with what I have, and thank everyone for taking time to come and support my art show. It was a wonderful success and you have helped me achieve all I ever thought I could achieve. Thanks my friend for putting it in perspective and appreciating where I have come from. Again, I am blessed!

This is a new painting that I worked on while my hands are recovering

This is a new painting that I have been working on as my hands recover. It is 30″X30″ and was done very lightly since my hands really can’t always be controled.

I feel good about this work and i enjoyed the horses in this painting as well. I’m sure very soon one of these guys is going to do something to cause some serious horse play to evolve. Not sure which one will be the one to start it but I’m sure somethere is going to happen soon. 🙂

"The Nudge" will be at the Reception tonight!

"The Nudge" will be at the Reception tonight!

This is one painting I spent years working on and I was never really satisfied, but eventually things came together.  The painting first started with just two horses and then a third one was added.  Later two of the horses were replaced with with four horses.  Only the one horse looking to the left in the back of the painting is from the original work.  I now love this painting with its has its own freedom.  The horses are buddies and enjoy hanging out together.  Something we all should remember… They are just enjoying time and life together.  Everyone has their own space although they are able to share space together in this painting.

Sherri Brown named this painting because the horses 2nd and 3rd from the left are kinda nudging each other and playing.  I have Geclees of this painting and they will be available for sale at the show the rest of the month.

Although, I hate to see this paint go I am thrilled it is going to someone who will really appreciate the work. It is special to me!

Actually, all the paintings that I sign are special too me but this one has a bit more of my heart…

Hope and Determination

One of my orginal abstract paintings now in a private collection

One of my orginal abstract paintings now in a private collection

Not sure what will happen to me in the future, but I know I will get through it and will be all the better for the experience.  I now know after surgery I can handle most anything. There was a time when I lived in fear of such a situation. After developing and now looking back it seems to be but a dream. Hope and Determination Got me through along with trust in the Lord.

Hope and determination… what does it have to do with my first painting shown above?  Trust God has a plan and  know I will get through this difficult time.   Hope for the better days and be determined to make it happen.

Guess, the relationship of this painting and what I am talking about today is it takes time for things to develop.   Some 35 yrs ago when I painted this painting I wanted to be an artist but I did not have the courage it takes to step out.  Well in its own time and God’s direction I  have made it to where I want to be … an artist, not afraid to express myself and show my work.  I have come a long way!

Psalm 27:13 & 14 Says, “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

There is that thought of being patient again.  Patient and one must have hope that better days are ahead and I must be determined to be succesful.

So maybe this should be Hope, Determination, and Patience.

Changes and Humbled!

Color puts life and excitment in this painting
Color puts life and excitement in this painting

Simple changes to the shape of the clouds has made this painting a little more interesting to view.  Not sure I am completely happy with the results of this work, but will continue to study it and consider more changes and additions or subtractions.

Humbled, A time for a bit of reflection.  I have been humbled in the past months…  I’m not as great as I thought I was.  Now is the time for me to thank God for giving me another chance and giving me friends in my life who have stood by me and cared for me.  I have never been so alone in my life as I have in the past 6 months, but yet I have not been alone.  God has been there and so have my friends.  I have been humbled and now it is time for me to give to others!  Controlling my anger and finding patience has been the corner stones for recovery, but I have much to do.  THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE STOOD BY ME! I AM SO FORTUNATE!

OK, I am looking for comments… not sure I like what is going on here.. There are lots of good points but this painting does not jump out and say what it needs to express.

Hearts and Hands

Peter with a giclee he has recently had produced

I received the following e-mail from a friend and fellow artist, Terri Shows and wanted to share it with you:

Subject: Hearts and Hands

Peter,
I told the story of your painter’s tape abstract to a man who came to figure drawing for the first time today. He had had a stroke and found out today that he could not draw with his right hand. He had made his living as a graphic designer. I encouraged him to begin using his left hand with whole arm movements and said I would try to find out about an occupational therapy eval. for him. But meanwhile, he took hope from your story of the painter’s tape and he liked your paintings, said the room had good energy and feeling. He and his wife plan to come to your opening.
Terri

There is some good in what I’m going through if I can helps others!

Update on my health btw, I’m feeling good but my hands are about the same (cold and don’t work) so difficult to do many things.
